Tourist Places in Gaya | Holy Place in Gaya | Mahabodhi Temple in India


Gaya oldest name was “GAYASUR”, (means Gaya the demon), demon is Sanskrit word “asur” .Lord Vishnu killed Gayasur, the holy demon by using the pressure of his foot over him. This incident transformed Gayasur into the hills that make up the Gaya city. Gaya is surmounted by temples to various gods and goddesses in hilltop temples.

Bitho Sharif (10 km from main city) situated on Gaya-Patna route, is one of the notable pilgrimage place. The great Sufi saint of Chishtia-Ashrafi order Hazrat Makhdoom Syed Shah Durwesh Ashraf settled here in around Ninth Century Hijri and established Khanqah-e-Ashrafia. 

Buddha Gaya Temple:

Buddha Gaya is famous place in India or wonders of historical places in Gaya. Buddha Gaya Temple which is also known as Mababodhi Vihara, commemorate the place where Prince Siddartha attained Perfect enlightenment under the pipal trees and Akshayavat. This temple is the shrine of the Supreme enlightenment, meaning Lord Buddha.  It is unique amongst the north Indian temples in having a spire instead of the usual curvilinear contours.

Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra | Vaishno Devi Trip |Famous Places India

Mata Vaishno Devi is one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to the Mother Goddess “Shakti”, located in the hills of Trikuta Mountain at an altitude of 5, 300 ft above the sea level and at a distance of approximately 12 km from Katra, in Jammu and Kashmir State of India. Mata Vaishno Devi, also known as Mata Rani and Vaishnavi. First stop is at Banganga which is located 1 km away from Katra. Here pilgrims can take a dip in Holy River and have food at the Langer (free food) run by famous T-series Industries.

Second stop Charanpadhuka is located about 2.5 km away from Banganga. It is believed that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi took rest here while moving towards the Trikuta Hills. The place contains the footprints of the Goddess, and thus the place is named Charanpadhuka Temple.

Third stop is Ardhkuwari which is also known as Garbh Joon which is located about 3 km from Charanpadhuka. It is believed that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi hid herself from the demon Bairon Nath in this cave for 9 months which makes it the most revered religious place of this region. At this place devotees can visit Adkuwari Temple and Gerbhjoon (an ancient Cave of about 20 feet).

After a steep trekking of about 4 km from Adkuwari comes the fourth and last stop MATA RANI Temple and you can enjoy MATA Darshan, Shops located along side at the entrance of the Bhawan are availed with glittering Chunri, coconuts and Darshan Prasad.

The best time to make a mata Vaishno Devi trip is anytime between March-April and September-October.
